Our arc flash electrical safety courses teach students to identify dangerous electrical hazards, to respect the power and danger of improperly handled electricity, and to appreciate the electrical safety practices necessary to handle electrical equipment and risks safely.
This includes approach distances for electrical equipment, safe work practices under a variety of circumstances, the importance of an arc flash analysis program, and how to establish and maintain safe electrical installations.
Schedule / Agenda
The first two days of the three-day class are identical to our traditional lecture course, as outlined on the pages you can access above. On the third day, NFPA, 70E-certified American Trainco instructors bring arc flash training to another, deeper level.
Day three adds hands-on exercises to give students the opportunity to practice and demonstrate the skills and safety practices they have learned, including:
- Using NFPA 70E tables to identify hazard risk categories;
- Establishing appropriate work boundaries;
- Selecting and putting on PPE (Personal Protective Equipment);
- Interpreting arc flash analysis labels;
- Demonstrate safe work practices once inside a limited approach boundary.
Adding a third day to hone and practice these NFPA 70E electrical safety skills makes meeting OSHA training obligations (under OSHA CFR 1910.331-335 and the NFPA 70E standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace®) easier for a wide range of students.
